Leadership is not a starring role nor is it the equivalent of a movie star in a featured film. Its position is not the focus of ambitious achievement by a person needy of self-worth provided by the adoring attention of the masses. The opposite is needed. A person who is vision oriented and purpose motivated because of seeing injustices, inequality, and/or blown by the wind of love to see the betterment of a people, become the underpinnings of a quality leader.

Perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who … have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.
Quality leadership genuinely love the people they lead more than loving leading itself. Leadership minus the ambition of love soon evolves into a tyrannical self-serving style leading to exploitation instead of the betterment of the whole. In plain terms, how can I enrich myself at the expense of the people, who have entrusted me to lead and improve their lives by leading them into greener pastures.
We can no longer be satisfied with those who merely have the skill to pilot the ship, but we need those who know how to chart the course for a better tomorrow. The importance of discernment and early detection of the right qualities in up-and-coming leaders is of the utmost importance. What a person is in private is who they are. It’s their character and that influences every decision made. A person’s belief system, mentors, track record, and world view are all important in the coming to a decision of who is right to lead if looking for quality instead of popular.
Good leadership projects a hope filled horizon but never ignores the problems of the present that impedes progress to get there. Celebrating the good IS good but ignoring the things that are dividing us is an ostrich syndrome that will destroy us. Quality leadership possessed by inward conviction will sacrifice the polling of opinion and open up a civil dialogue building bridges to solutions that gather the opponents to one body in moving forward.
I could get specific on issues currently facing us whether in America or globally and we would be writing all day. However, the principles stated above, I firmly believe is necessary in providing the essentials for quality leadership to emerge and lead us into the lush fields of unity, prosperity, and peace.

This is beautifully put, Reuben! Even, or especially, when we feel like we are speaking to the wind, we must speak. We must counter the cacophony of chaos driven by dark agendas, designed to distract and destabilize masses so the few can enforce their selfish programs. Thank you for verbalizing these thoughts. Ideas have consequence. Some days it takes more courage to emit a true thought that questions or challenges the herd than it does to rant and rage evoking mayhem.
